Writer's block

I know the excuses. You have grand plans to write a beautiful, interesting post, which includes pictures of London and of all the knitting you did there--on the train, in the rain, on a bus, in a rush. You want to describe in wondrous detail the fun hat of Sarah's that your replicated in pretty perfect detail, wowing all your friends, as you only needed to look at the hat in order to figure out the pattern. You want to write all about how you spent New Years Eve in the only bowling alley in London (which just happened to be located in the basement of your hotel.) You want to describe all the vegetarian restaurants you found in London. You want to write about the Diane Arbus photography exhibit you saw at the Victoria and Albert Museum (and you want to tell everybody about how really, your favoritest part of the V&A was the cafe, which served the wickedest coffee you drank in London and preciously delicious scones). You need to capture your grand memories of the British Museum, and you need to record how you saw the first installation of the Narnia Choronicles when you were actually in England.

But instead you are stymied in your writing ambitions by the swamping amount of work you came back to in the US. Hospice overpowers you. You are a perfectionist, and you can only afford to be perfect about one thing at a time, and you have to choose, your blog or the ungodly amount of notes you have to write to document all the visits you are making to the little old ladies and men who are so glad to see you, glad at least most of the time. So you allow your blog to lie dormant. And pray your friends out there will forgive you, for not only are you not writing, you are not even reading other people's blogs, and this is the worst sin of all. Go! Go do your penance! Read Rabbitch and Stuntmother and Spinningdoula and Stacey! Read Harlot and Blue Blog and Baby Boy Norton and that other nice AbigailVR who writes fun stories about doing crafty things with her son Niels! Don't even take the time to insert the links for all those blogs because it will take you forever! Just go! Go!
